I just learned from Facebook that Darryl Beeson, former cellar master at the Mansion and other Dallas restaurants, passed away today. He was 54. According to Savor Dallas co-founder Vicki-Briley White:
“We just received a phone call with the sad news that Darryl Beeson has passed away. We will update you as soon as Jim speaks [...]

Many of us in and around the restaurant business have vivid stories to tell about Darryl Beeson. He was an easy going and friendly guy. Besides wine, he loved jokes. Almost every conversation started with one. Good or bad, you always laughed at Darryl’s jokes. Darryl Beeson died late yesterday after complications from a car [...]
Sometimes I need a reminder about the special dining experiences in Dallas. You fall into a habit—chalupas and bean soup at Fernando’s, fried rice at Shinsei, a chicken salad sandwich at Zoës Kitchen—and you forget about the those little jewel boxes, tucked into neighborhoods, out of the spotlight. Last night I had the good fortune [...]
This is for all of you who bitched about the size of the meat portions in the sandwiches at Zinsky’s. In response to your feedback, the folks at Zinsky’s are pumping the pastrami (and other deli meats) up from 7 ounces to 12 ounces. Hey co-owner, Jim Baron, why the switch?

We only have a little bit left from my great grandmother and we were hoping that somewhere on the internet it could be bought. It is manufactured by The Standard Medical Company Lansford, PA. I am aware of the fact that this company has since gone out of business. We would really appreciate your time. This stuff is very effective and is very hard to come by. Thank you in advance. I will choose a best answer.
You are dealing with the Customer From Hell. They wanted expedited delivery, but don’t want to pay for it. They want a custom configuration, but don’t want to pay for it. They challenge your return policy, your pricing, your delivery date, and then when you meet EVERY single need, they nitpick some more. You wind up really going overboard for them, at quite an expense to yourself and your business, time-wise, and it’s not a large order, and they will not be repeat business. Then they overpay their invoice by a hundred dollars. What would you do?

Hi,
I live in australia and am starting Year 11 this year, so I graduate high school end of 2011.
I was wondering when I should put an early application in for a college and how I can do this. I’ve read about the ‘Common Application’ for undergraduate admissions (which is online and for the US) but I’m not sure how to get started.
Also, would I need to sit a SAT or the English equivalent?
I’m hoping to go into business if that helps anyone.
Thanks to anyone that can help me out
I have been doing research on online universities to get my Bachelors of Business Admin. I have no idea which schools are good and which ones aren’t. Does anyone know a good school to go to? Or a way to look up if a school is a good one?
Moore told the Guardian’s Chris McGreal for their Saturday editions that America needs a radical new economic order:
But what does it mean, to replace capitalism with democracy? He sighs and tries to explain. In the old Soviet bloc, he says, communism was the political system and socialism the economic. But with capitalism, he complains, you get political and economic rolled in to one. Big business buys votes in Congress. Lobbyists write laws. The result is that the US political system is awash in capitalist money that has stripped the system of much of its democratic accountability.
