The local chapter of the American Institute of Wine & Food has put together some pretty swanky and high priced events over the years. But starting at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, AIWF is launching a monthly Recessionista Wine Dinner Series that will run through September with a portion of the proceeds going to culinary scholarships. For just $55 per person, members are invited to Wish at The Hotel, 801 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, where chef Marco Ferraro has created a three-course menu paired with wine. Non-members pay $65, still a - relative - deal as far as I’m concerned. Here’s the menu. Braised Beef Short Rib Ravioli, salsify puree, sour cherries, arugula with Frogs Leap, Zinfandel, from California Pan-Seared Snapper, radish, patty pan squash, baby zucchini, fennel, olive tapenade, lemon-corriander foam with Les Charmes, Chardonnay, Macon Lugny, from Burgundy Basil Panna Cotta, marinated strawberries, mint, balsamic reduction with Quady Essencia, Muscat, from California . For Reservations, e-mail assnmgmt@bellsouth.net or call 954-396-3875 or 305-663-9641. Upcoming wine dinners have not yet been announced. PHOTO: The garden at Wish. (Courtesy Wish)
